Double Podium Finishes at VIR Propel CHR Drivers to Championship Leads
Charlie Hayes Racing (CHR) left Virginia International Raceway (VIR) with momentum firmly on its side, capturing multiple podium finishes and taking control of two Porsche Sprint Challenge North America championship battles.
Anna Cecchi and Greg Cecchi entered the weekend looking to gain valuable championship points, and both drivers delivered. After finishing 2nd in their respective classes during Race 1, each driver stood on the top step of the podium in Race 2. The results moved Greg into the lead of the Cayman Masters Class championship while Anna now leads the Cayman Pro/Am championship standings.
Following her Race 2 victory, Anna reflected on the performance and the team effort behind the result. “The car was great, so a big thanks to the team,” said Anna Cecchi. “Starting from the front, the goal was to build a gap while preserving the tires. We executed that plan, stayed consistent under pressure, and brought home the win. It was a great weekend.”
Spencer Propper made his debut with the team, quickly adapting to a new team environment and working alongside the CHR crew throughout the weekend. With limited time together before the event, Spencer and the team continued to build communication and develop the car setup session by session. He delivered a pair of consistent race finishes, placing 6th in Race 1 and 8th in Race 2, providing a strong foundation as the partnership continues to grow.
Dan Drohan continued to gain experience in the Porsche 992 Cup Car. In qualifying, Group 2 was unable to record any laps, forcing Dan to start at the back of the field for Race 1. He focused on working his way forward, finishing 13th in class in Race 1 and improving to 11th in Race 2. CHR looks forward to continuing its work with Dan as he gains experience in the Cup Car.
The series heads to Road America on August 14–16, a circuit that presented challenges for the team last season. CHR is eager for the opportunity to return, battle for strong results, and continue its pursuit of the team championship as the 2026 season enters its final stretch.
