CHR Battles Through Eventful Road America Weekend
Charlie Hayes Racing faced an eventful weekend at Road America in the penultimate round of the Porsche Sprint Challenge NA season. Entering the weekend with championship leads across multiple classes, the team looked to build momentum and carry strong results into the season finale at Road Atlanta.
Anna Cecchi delivered the weekend’s standout performance in Cayman Pro/Am, sweeping both races after earning pole position and leading every lap. The dominant weekend extended her championship advantage, putting Cecchi in a strong position heading into the final round.
Greg Cecchi and Spencer Propper also opened the weekend strong, with Greg earning a third-place finish and Spencer securing a top-five finish in Cayman Race 1. However, separate incidents in Race 2 brought both weekends to an early end, with Greg losing his championship lead as a result. Damage to Greg’s car also prevented him and Anna from competing in the Endurance Challenge.
The GT3 Cup program faced its own challenges after Matt Dusek and Dan Drohan were involved in an incident during Race 1. With both cars requiring significant repairs, the CHR crew worked throughout the weekend to get both entries back on track for the Endurance Challenge. Dusek’s car unfortunately developed issues early in the endurance race, forcing an early retirement. Drohan and Taylor Van Overbeek, meanwhile, completed the event, gaining valuable seat time and experience.
Despite the setbacks, the weekend showcased the determination of the entire CHR organization. Anna’s dominant performance provided a major championship boost, while the team’s continued effort kept its GT3 Endurance Challenge title fight within striking distance.
With one round remaining, Anna Cecchi leads the Cayman Pro/Am Championship by 48 points, while Charlie Hayes and Matt Dusek sit just 2 points behind the Endurance GT3 Am Championship leaders. Now, CHR turns its focus to Road Atlanta, where the team will close out the season with championship hardware in sight.
