CHR Secures Multiple PSC Championships
Charlie Hayes Racing entered the Porsche Sprint Challenge North America season finale at Road Atlanta with one goal: win championships. By the end of the weekend, CHR had accomplished exactly that, securing three championships across the series and marking the first three Porsche Sprint Challenge championships in team history.
Anna Cecchi Claims Cayman Pro/Am Championship
Anna Cecchi entered the weekend leading the Cayman Pro/Am championship and put together a strong performance from the start. After qualifying third, Anna fought hard throughout Race 1, chasing down Keith Grant and ultimately finishing second. The result gave her enough of a points advantage to secure the championship by simply starting Race 2.
With her championship already secured, Anna started the final race from pole after her strong qualifying performance. But knowing she had already accomplished her championship goal did not stop her from going for more. “Starting on pole, that means I have to go for the win!” Anna said before the race. Race 2 began on a wet track, with conditions continuing to deteriorate as the rain came down harder. The race was eventually called due to the conditions, but not before Anna had put together an impressive drive, building a lead of more than 1.5 seconds at points during the race. She took the final race win and capped off her season as the Cayman Pro/Am Champion.
It was a standout season for the young driver, who consistently fought at the front and finished the year with a championship to show for it.
CHR Secures Cayman Team Championship
Anna’s individual championship was joined by another major accomplishment for the team. With strong performances from Greg Cecchi throughout the season, along with contributions from Dan Drohan early in the year and Spencer Propper during the final rounds, CHR secured the Cayman Team Championship.
The championship reflects the work of the entire CHR crew and its commitment to helping its drivers improve, compete at the front, and achieve their goals. Throughout the season, the team continued to push forward, and the results showed just how competitive the Cayman program had become.
Dusek and Hayes Take 992 AM Endurance Championship
The third championship came in the 992 AM class of the Porsche Endurance Challenge, where Matt Dusek and Charlie Hayes entered the finale fighting for the title.
CHR started the four-hour endurance race from pole after the championship contender failed to pass technical inspection. Charlie Hayes took the opening stint, leading for several laps before settling into a consistent race pace. Over the course of the four-hour race, Charlie and Matt traded driving duties through multiple pit stops while the CHR crew kept the car running at a strong pace. A brief pit-lane issue forced the team to work around a Cayman being pushed out of the way, temporarily blocking CHR from entering its pit stall. Despite the setback, the team continued to execute and keep the car in championship contention.
Both Charlie and Matt led the race at various points before the team established a strong position late in the event. They ultimately crossed the finish line second overall and first in class, securing the 992 AM Endurance Championship.
A Championship Season for CHR
Three championships in one season mark a major milestone for Charlie Hayes Racing. The Cayman Pro/Am, Cayman Team, and 992 AM Endurance titles are the first three Porsche Sprint Challenge championships in team history.
The results are a testament to the work of the entire CHR organization, from the drivers and crew to the preparation and execution that went into every race weekend. CHR is continuing to grow, and after a championship-winning season in the Porsche Sprint Challenge, the team is hungry for even more success in Porsche one-make racing.
